Our opportunity

The Pricing Manager has the overall responsibility for managing one of the actuarial general insurance pricing teams. These pricing teams share responsibility for technical price certification across all Bryte Insurance business segments and lines. They monitoring and track key performance indicators on pricing once in production. This role reports into the Chief Pricing Actuary. You will work closely with peer pricing managers to manage the underwriting performance of various lines of business across specialist, commercial and personal market segments.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities

 

Outward

  • Manage stakeholder expectations and foster collaborative relations.
  • Constantly strive towards improving pricing insight relevance in the greater business.
  • Provide professional actuarial support and advice to the business.
  • Analyse and interpret pricing monitoring results and communicate conclusions to product and underwriting teams.
  • Support and participate in portfolio management and performance assessment against KPIs.
  • Collaborate and coordinate efforts with the managers of product & underwriting, reinsurance, capital, reserving, finance, claims, policy administration, management information, various IT functions.

 

Internal

  • Plan, prioritise and manage your team’s work within SLA and capacity.
  • Manage pricing basis review projects within agreed milestone delivery dates.
  • Ensure new and existing data sources are developed and maintained.
  • Create, maintain, and constantly improve price monitoring reports.
  • Maintain modelling minimum standards and drive your team and processes towards best practice.
  • Recruit new staff and ensure their systematic training and development.
  • Manage performance and take corrective action when required.
  • Provide appropriate leadership to staff and reinforce company culture.

 

Technical Proficiency

  • Computer Literacy
  • Accomplished Microsoft Office user, effective Power Point presenter and able to automate using VBA
  • Accomplished SAS (preferable), SQL and Qlikview (and advantage) user, with proven ability to reconcile administration and claims transaction data to financials
  • Accomplished pricing modelling software user, e.g., WTW, Earnix, Quantee, etc. (with optimising experience an advantage).
  • Accomplished GI actuarial pricing specialist with in-depth familiarity with concepts, such as: Large Account Pricing, GLM modelling, Segmentation, Rate and Exposure Change, Premium and Loss Ratio Walks, Inflation and Frequency assumption setting, etc.
  • Office and project management experience
  • Familiar with GI pricing and portfolio management best practice an advantage.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3 Year Actuarial Science Degree
  • Significant progress with actuarial exams
  • Other relevant qualifications, courses, and training
  • At least 4 years GI insurance pricing experience
  • Experience in other actuarial functions, e.g. Capital and Reserving an advantage
  • Experience of providing actuarial advice to senior management.
  • Experience at prioritizing, resourcing, and planning.
  • Ability to manage diverse work portfolio and team.
  • Demonstrate ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence outside of own function.
